Worship & Study

WORSHIP ACTIVITIES
Worship nurtures, uplifts and provides the strength and guidance to face the challenges of our lives. Join us in Sunday worship services (9:00 and 10:30 am) and also in our several Interfaith services where we take part in community worship involving many different expressions of faith.

FUMC provides a number of opportunities to actively take part in worship:
  • Participating in Laity Sunday by delivering a sermon or leading worship
  • Liturgist: participating or helping in worship
  • Usher: assisting in worship
  • Greeter: welcoming people to Sunday worship
  • Altar Guild: flower arranging, preparation of communion elements.
  • Chancel Choir: sing in Sunday worship (Thursday night rehearsal)
  • Hand Bell Choirs: occasional music for Sunday worship (Tuesday and/or Thursday rehearsals)
  • Instrumental Music: occasionally participating in worship
  • Sound Board: monitoring sound equipment and levels during service
  • Prayer Group: meetings at various times
STUDY ACTIVITES
"Give instruction to the wise, and they will become wiser still; teach the righteous and they will gain in learning".

FUMC invites all interested in increasing their understanding and knowledge of the Bible, the church and Christian traditions to partake of any of these study activities:
  • Sunday morning Adult Education Classes and Forums at 9:00 and 10:30 a.m.
  • Wednesday Night Fellowship Time (WNFT): dinner, adult Bible study
  • Women of Spirit: book study and fellowship, Friday mornings
  • Disciple Bible Studies: intensive group studies lasting 34 weeks
  • United Methodist Women (UMW) Study Circles: mission/current event studies
  • Informal Book Discussion Groups
  • Life Passages Studies/Support Groups: Grief Recovery, Newlyweds, Dealing with Divorce, Retirement.
  • Guest lecturers from nearby colleges and universities
  • Writing Your Story - concentrates on understanding personal faith stories, writing and sharing
