Worship

Worship is at the heart of all we do at FUMC Santa Barbara. Our primary reason for gathering is to worship God, to increase awareness of God's presence and to celebrate God's love. Our worship services offer a quiet time for personal reflection and prayer while allowing us the opportunity to hear and spread the Good News with our friends, neighbors and visitors. All are welcome to share God's Grace by joining with us in the Call to Worship, kneeling with us at Holy Communion, bowing our heads in prayer, and singing with us the great hymns of the church.

We offer a traditional worship service and sermons by our pastors are Biblically centered, seeking to inspire, uplift, inform and challenge us to be good stewards of both the mysteries and the gifts of God. Special attention is given to making sermons relevant to the world in which we live.

Our music program is spiritually rich, including inspiring offerings from our choir under the direction of Nathan Krietzer, masterful organ contributions by Steve Hodson, frequent delightful bell choir selections under the direction of Anne Weger, occasional music by the children's choir, and guest musical accompanists.

You are invited to join us in worship on Sunday at either of the following services:

9:00 - 10:00 AM in the Sanctuary
Children and Youth Church School
Nursery Care provided

10:30 - 11:30 AM in the Sanctuary
Nursery Care provided

The Sacrament of Holy Communion is observed the first Sunday of each month in both services. Our Communion Table is open to all ages and stages of faith.

Fellowship Time follows the first service and gives us a chance to visit with members, friends and visitors while enjoying coffee and cookies and other treats. The social time is usually held in Fellowship Hall behind the Church, or in good weather, out in the courtyard, under the redwood tree.

A Daily Devotional message is available that provides a meaningful resource of scripture and inspiration. Each recorded message is drawn from great devotional writers to reinforce one's prayer and devotional life and offers a reminder of God's presence and if needed, encouragement through a difficult time or a long dark night.

The Daily Devotional message is available 24 hours/day by calling (805) 962-5697.
