Our Pastors

Rev. Dr. Mark Richardson is the Senior Minister of First United Methodist ChurchMark and DallisMark and Dallis,

Santa Barbara. Mark has been in pastoral ministry for thirty-three years, serving in such diverse settings as a large suburban church near Chicago,an urban commuter church in San Diego, a small rural parish in Imperial Valley, a campus ministry at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu, the reserve chaplaincy in the United States Air Force, and most recently churches in Los Osos and Santa Maria along the central coast of California.

Mark writes worship liturgy, children's messages, song lyrics, and poetry (for fun) and he and his wife Dallis enjoy movies, reading, good food and good friends. Dallis is an accomplished photographer. Mark enjoys long distance running and tennis. Mark has two young adult children, Ethan and Hannah, both living in California. Dallis has a daughter, Wendy, who lives in Brooklyn, New York.

Pastor Mark believes that the Church is to be an instrument of God's grace and peace in the community, and that God calls each of us to some form of ministry, giving us the gifts we need to fulfill our calling. Christ is present in our midst when we are open to the transforming love of God.
